I am now getting so close to making this new book happen I can taste it. I have been writing for nearly two years the first book in what will become a series of young adult novels. It seems like it was just the other day I was mapping the thing out, and now it is a manuscript. The road to this point has been a lot more work than I thought- writing, re-writing, putting together a proposal, re-writing the proposal, creating a synopsis, etc. Here I thought you just wrote a book and sent it in hoping it gets published - little did I know the flaming hoops one must jump through!
So here's where we are:
1- I have written the manuscript (though I am still re-working it daily)
2- I have an agent
3- I have written & re-written the book proposal
4- I am awaiting an editor's return of the aforementioned proposal
5- Twitter account created
6- Blog begun!
Next step will be providing the proposal to my agent, who will either shop it himself to publishing houses, or will find an agent who is more suited to this genre. (my current agent is nonfiction/theological/political)
Hopefully this blog will provide someone a sense of comfort if they are in a similar spot as I, or better yet, find a following who will buy my book! Either way, it's a nice outlet for myself as I continue this arduous process of publishing. Fingers crossed!
